Remote Learning
Good morning, we’ve made a great start to our home learning and I’m so impressed with everything I’ve seen so far. The staff have been brilliant and they love seeing how the children are getting along because we miss having them in school. I know it isn’t easy and there are so many obstacles but we are always happy to help. We’ve had a few issues with access to devices at home as I know families are sharing and I just wanted to clarify that the children don’t need to be online for long periods of time. We’re trying to set work which can also be done away from the computer so if you can log into teams, pick up the tasks and then upload when they’re done that would be great. Please keep talking to us, we’re here to help but bear with us as well because we’re all learning together. Thanks once again for your support,
Mrs Costello (Headteacher)
Update

Communication
Over the next few days there will be a lot of communication being sent out to keep you all updated on the current situation. Can you please make sure you keep checking your emails and texts for updates. We will also be posting on here and the facebook page.
We have currently sent out Key Worker forms which need returning a.s.a.p. if you need your child to attend school and you are a key worker. We have also requested for you to contact the school via email if your child receives free school meals and you would like a grab bag prepared daily whilst we are using remote learning.
Thank you for your patience and co-operation.
IMPORTANT : please read and share
Good evening
After careful consideration due to the current situation we have had to make the decision to close the school to all but keyworker and vulnerable children from Tuesday 5th January. Please see the attached letter for further details and keep checking on here for further updates

Miss Heatherington says Goodbye and Thank You
THANKYOU
A huge thank you to everyone for their kind words and gifts. I am totally overwhelmed by the kindness you have shown.
I wish to express my thanks to all past and present pupils and their families for making my 32 years at Cockfield Primary School so enjoyable.
The help, support, encouragement and friendship of everyone including the wider village community have all helped to make this an outstanding school with happy children, who constantly tell me how much they enjoy school and think it’s a fun place to be.
The school has been a major part of my life for 32 years and I will miss it greatly, particularly the community spirit and the laughter I share with the children every day. We are like one big family.
Thank you everyone!
Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.
Take care everyone and thank you again for my fantastic send off.

Co-op
We received a phone call yesterday from The Co-op in Cockfield to say thank you for our very generous donations to the Food bank with our Christmas parcels. The Co-op recognises acts of kindness in the community and presented us with a bag full of shortbread goodies to share out between all the children and Staff.
A huge Thank you to the Co-op ๐
Children North East (Because growing up can be hard)
During the course of this week all our children will be having the opportunity to pick some gifts that have been kindly sent to us by Children North East (and Bishop Auckland College). We ask that you have a quick read of the following letter that came with the gifts:
A big hello to everyone from Children North East!
We have received kind donations from businesses, charitable trusts, individuals and funders including support from Culture Bridge North East and Art Council England as part of the Let’s Craft packs national scheme. This scheme ensures children and young people have access to creative resources and do not miss out on the health, wellbeing and educational benefits of creativity while away from school.
We are trying to encourage as many people as possible to share what they are doing with the materials and it would be great if you have the facility if you could take a photo of what you have done and share it on our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ChildrenNorthEast/
Wishing you all the best,
Children North East
