Our SEN Information Report – which is part of Durham County Council’s Local Offer – provides details about how we support children and young people with Special Educational Needs in our school. We have aimed to provide you with the key information, but if you need any further information, or want to discuss a topic in more detail, then please contact Mrs Wright (our SENCo) via the school office.
The SEN Information Report is under review – October 2023.
What is the Local Authority Local Offer?
Local Authorities (LA) and schools are required to publish, and keep under review, information about services they expect to be available for children and young people with special educational needs (SEN) aged 0-25. This is called the ‘Local Offer’.
The intention of the Local Offer is to improve choice for families and provide information to help families understand the range of services and provision in the local area.

What is Cockfield Primary School’s Local Offer?
At Cockfield Primary School, we strive to provide all pupils with the quality education which they are entitled to, and one which will enable each individual to achieve their potential. Through delivering quality first teaching which meets the needs of a full range of pupils, through regular and accurate assessment of progress and through providing timely and positive interventions, we aim to removing barriers to learning and continually raise the aspirations of our learners. As parts of this provision, staff and families work in partnership with a range of external agencies in order to understand and meet the needs of our full range of learners.
Mrs Wright is our SENCo (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator). She works closely with all staff to ensure everyone understands the needs of all children in our school and to support staff and families in helping to meet the needs of SEN pupils. We are a small school community and therefore we are able to get to know all of our individual learners and plan necessary support for children who require it.
Our SEN governor works closely with the SENCO to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND provision.
This SEND Information Report should be read alongside the school’s SEND Policy, the Equalities Information and Objectives and the Accessibility Plan.
