We want all children at Cockfield Primary to get the most out of their education, and attending school regularly is an important part of your child’s education. We are here to support you if there are barriers which prevent your child consistently accessing school.
Having a good education will help to give your child the best possible start in life.ย Poor school attendance means that your child misses key aspects of their sequence of learning and it can also impact on their social needs and development. Promoting and supporting good attendance at school is essential to learning and attainment.
We celebrate individual and House group attendance on a weekly, half termly, termly and annual basis. Each term the House with with the best attendance recieves an additional Forest School session as a reward for their attendance.
In August 2024 the Government changed their guidance for attendance. Where the are patterns of poor attendance we will always try and work with our families overcome barriers to attendance and avoid following the formal routes of fining. In situations where a child’s attendance does not improve then we follow Durham Local Authority’s guidelines for issuing fines.
