Class 2 learnt about spar boxes when they went to Killhope Lead Mining Centre. These beautiful boxes were made by miners in their spare-time using minerals such as fluorite, quartz, siderite, galena and calcite. We explored the symmetry of the boxes in Maths and the nets of 3D shapes before making our own spar boxes with real minerals from the mines and glitter!
